Effectiveness Mindfulness based cognitive therapy training on Emotion regulation and Anxiety sensitivity in elderly with precedent heart disease

Abstract:

Introduction: Since old age and disease of this period of life have increased the cost of the health and treatment system, so this study aims to Effectiveness Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy training on Emotion regulation and Anxiety sensitivity in the elderly with precedent heart disease resident in the elderly in Tehran city. Methods: Statistical population consisted of all elderly with precedent heart disease resident in the elderly in the year 2018 Tehran city, among them, selected 50 people which has filed with precedent cardiovascular disease and randomly divided into two groups (25 people experiment group and25 people control group). The first group receives eight sessions 60 minutes a meeting a week Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on elderly with precedent heart disease but control group they did not receive training. Research tools included Emotion regulation questionnaire (ERQ-10) Gross & John and Anxiety sensitivity scale (ASS) Taylor & coax. Finally, data analysis by multivariate covariance by software SPSS-23. Results: The results of the findings indicated a significant difference between the groups (control & experiment); also, the effects of the single-variable test showed substantial deference in two variables. Conclusions: The results showed that Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy training could be Effectiveness on Emotion regulation and Anxiety sensitivity in elderly with precedent heart disease, This means that a cognitive therapy based on Mindfulness is an effective and preventative strategy for reducing the high anxiety sensitivities and enhancing emotion regulation strategies, so it is suggested that health professionals pay special to it attention.
